Paul Brady • Piano Studies Instructor

Paul Brady grew up in San Francisco, where his first instrument was a Hammond organ with a two-manual console, a pedalboard, and a built-in cassette player. Around the age of ten, he learned to play by ear and taught himself the basics of sight reading. In his early teens, he moved to Oregon and started playing guitar and piano. He took piano lessons until he graduated, and then decided to study piano intensively in college. After graduating, playing with a few bands, and traveling abroad, he developed an interest in flamenco and bossa nova. In 2003, he settled in Portland, got into the restaurant business, and in his spare time studied flamenco guitar and cante (singing) and taught piano privately. In 2011, his partner Jesse moved to Astoria, and the following year he moved there to be with her.

Aside from teaching piano, Paul sings flamenco with Portland-based El Caudro Gallo, and performs in a duo with Jesse, accompanying her on guitar as she sings bossa nova classics.

Paul has a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis in piano performance from Western Oregon University, 1994.

We at the Astoria Conservatory of Music are dedicated to bringing excellence in music education to all of our students.
