Vincent Jones-Centeno

Piano and Symphonic Band Instruments Instructor

Vincent D. Jones-Centeno brings over twenty years of experience teaching piano to the Astoria Conservatory. He taught keyboard theory/skills and instrumental conducting at the University of Oregon.  In addition to teaching at the Astoria Conservatory, he is the music teacher at Lewis and Clark Elementary, the music director and conductor of the Cascadia Chamber Opera, and music director of the North Coast Chorale. Previous experiences include serving as the Education and Artistic Director of the People’s Music School, music director of Genesis Opera in Chicago, and organist and music director at the historic Grace Episcopal Church in Astoria.

Former piano students include piano instructor, Janel Carbonell-McGrath who is currently writing a curriculum that combines music and math, and Adrian Metzger, owner of a professional recording studio, teaches private piano and performs regularly in the Chicago-Metropolitan area.  Adrian’s studio website can be found at Horse-drawnproductions.com.

Vincent received the Master of Music in Piano Performance from DePaul University (Chicago, IL), the Master of Arts in Teaching from Pacific University (Forest Grove, OR), and the Doctor of Philosophy in Music Theory from the University of Oregon (Eugene, OR).
